we just couldn’t help ourselves

ahhh those stairs, we just can’t stop thinking about them.  they’re everywhere, well not the stairs themselves but the larger idea of imperfect repetition.  oxymoron you say?  we beg to differ.  lately we’ve noticed an overabundance of the same graphic treatment – a perfect pattern made up of similar, yet slightly disparate shapes.  almost every graphic blog has a an example but  we love these two in particular -  the simplistic shapes, the use of a simple font like helvetica as a major design element…brilliant.

but beauty call doesn’t stop there, we weren’t satisfied…not even one bit.  we needed more.  we embraced our inner nerd and dug up these British woodcuts, etchings and linocuts from the 1930s.  what an amazing similarity, especially given the uncanny economic timing.   does this mean we find solice in repetition?
