We love this amazing photo journal&sketchpad-but-so-much-more fashion blog by illustrator turned photographer Garance Doré. Un Fille Comme Moi translates to A Girl Like Me and lucky for us, the website has recently become available in both French and English. Just as the title suggests, her posts feature snapshots of street chic (mostly Parisian) beauties but also commentary on why she found the subject so alluring–something we often find missing in the Sartorialist. Her interpretations help us to feel connected with the subject and her illustrations help us see the world through more than just her lens. The result is a blog that feels personal and ironically enough translates to a level of intimacy with her well-dressed stranger/subjects. Oh, and she has phenomenal taste, of course, oh to be French.
In a recent interview with Refinery29, she describes her 5 key wardrobe pieces:
1. “High heels. When I can, I will always go for a pair of high heels. Instant chic.”
2. “Gloves. The perfect finishing touch for me, and they help me to keep my hands warm when I’m in the cold shooting.”
3. “Men’s pieces. From pants to shirts to jackets, I love to shop in my boyfriend’s wardrobe.”
4. “A white V-neck T-shirt. I usually buy them from the Gap. My most sexy item, and I love them even more when they get very old.”
5. “My watch. An old Rolex my mother gave me for my 18th birthday. What a good idea she had! I love it and have been wearing it every single day since then. Without it, I feel naked!”
