Some industry insiders believe the prominence of fur on the Fall 09 runways was economically, rather than creatively motivated – that large furriers supplied the furs at no charge to designers, provided buyers would place orders after the show.  As tacky as it sounds, a manufactured “fur trend” must have seemed like a good way for cash strapped designers to inject some opulence into their collections and for the furriers, a surefire way to stimulate demand in a stagnant luxury goods market.

Though hoardes of women aren’t running maniacally down Madison Avenue charging the economy back into the black, most probably feel overdue for a little treat.  By now they know we’re not breaking out our cash for any old thing, so this season’s furs take it to the next level:
