happy pills

Candy cures all, so naturally the Spanish design firm, Marion + Merche Design thought to use pill bottle packaging for a Barcelona candy company.

Instead of plastic bags, customers load up their goodies in jars & pill cases labeled with a universal (but bright pink) cross.  The result is a clever packaging concept that feels anything but clinical.  In fact, the cleanliness of the packaging feels almost rebellious as in this-candy’s-not-for-kids kind of way.

We love whenever a design firm relates to a product’s emotional end benefit because it usually means an amazingly fresh take on a tired idea.  In this case, candy wrappers.  We’d like to think the thought process went something like this:

1.) candy makes everyone happy

2.) I mean, I like candy

3.) in fact, I usually need a candy fix when I’m having a bad day

4.) hmm, candy kind of cures all

5.) instead of medicine, people should just take candy

6.) and…voila!!

Our blatant oversimplification aside, we applaud Marion + Merche on their sleek, simple, yet fun packaging.  Watch out, Willy Wonka.
